I am a God-Parent. I am a rubbish God Parent. The kind of God Parent who started off with good intentions and managed to arrive for the christening, but forgot birthdays and did not visit year after year. The kind of God-Parent to whom you are introduced on your wedding day by your parents and you look at the 'God-Parent' with that expression that blends bemusement and disgust as you reflect on all those birthday gifts and words of wisdom you never had. That expression that says, "Really?". Truth be told, I would probably not have made it to your wedding; I told you I was rubbish at it.
This post is the first in a collection that celebrates those precious souls who have taken seriously their role as a God-Parent. They have stayed in touch throughout the years; watched over; offered advice and encouragement; been a role model - not by setting out to be one, but simply by being themselves.
This first in the Collection is the God-Parent to my youngest child.
God-Parents, I salute you
If you have a special God-Parent with whom you would love to hang out, take some beautiful pictures and have those images turned into your own video-showreel, then contact me.
